Tiger Safari Tour - 10 days

Delhi-Bandhavgarh National Park-Kanha National Park

(Kanha and Bandhavgarh National Parks are the best places to see the tiger in the wild. Situated in Madhya Pradesh in Central India the parks are also project tiger reserves. The tiger population is high thanks to successful breeding. Thousand of visitors come here to see the tiger in wildlife safari. The reserves are situated at a distance of 240 apart.)

Day 1 Arrive at New Delhi we escort you to check in the hotel. Other guests who have subscribed to the package may join you. You are free till noon next day. We will make good use of the time and visit Old Delhi's historic monuments to have a glimpse of India's historical past. This is a good way to get introduced to the country. We will visit great monuments like Kutub Minar and Red Fort. The capital city is a window to India and it's mind boggling diversity.
Day 2 This day we leave New Delhi for Umariya by Super Fast Train in 2nd AC Coach. This is an overnight train which reaches Umaria rail head early in the morning.
Day 3 We reach Umariya rail head and then drive to Bandhavgarh in AC car/coach. We settle down in the resort and freshen. After morning breakfast we will take a short walk to Tala Village. Our first game drive is in the evening. In 1968 Bandhavgarh was declared a National Park and subsequently a Project Tiger Reserve. The white tigers were found near the forests here.

Our first tiger safari is an introduction to the vivid landscape and tigers of the little reserve. In the pristine forests we will also see the leopard or the sloth bear with some luck. Other animals easily seen are the spotted deer, four horned deer, sambar, barking deer and nilgai. Langur monkeys and wild boars are also common sight in the park.

Bandhavgarh is rich in bird life hence birders always keep a look out for some exciting species. We will be spotting birds as well besides the tiger.
Day 4 Morning evening game drive. The tiger safaris are conducted on open jeeps in company of forest guide and our own naturalist. We will explore the forests as well visit the ancient fort and all its leftover structure. Shesh Shaiyya is a statue of Lord Visnu besides and enchanting pool from here we will proceed to the Bandhavgarh Fort. Besides the Fort there exists many manmade caves, shelters, temples and idols now under the protection of the forest department.
Day 5 Take two safaris are planned for today one in the morning and other at evening. The pristine forest canopy constitutes of Sal, mixed forest and bamboo on slopes. The marshy grasslands are home to many mammals. This is where we will encounter tigers on hunt.

The preserve has thirty two hillock which accord a unique characteristic to the terrain. The park is one of the most picturesque amongst the tiger reserves in India.
Day 6 We leave the Bandhavgarh hotel for Kanha National Park in the morning. We reach Kanha Tiger Reserve around lunch time and check in at hotel Krishna one of the best Jungle Resorts. It is time for lunch & some rest. Later we go for the evening safari in an open jeep. Game drives at Kanha are full excitement as a large number of mammal species can be seen including the tiger. The major mammals of the preserve are Tiger, Leopard, Bison, Swamp Deer and Sambar deer. Besides on can see wild dog, sloth bear and Nilgai.
Day 7 Morning evening safaris in Kanha. The morning drive is extended and one can watch plenty of game till noon. Tigers are also seen more often on the morning tiger safari. This is excellent time for birding as well. The preserve has many species of birds that are delightful to see and photograph. The most visited areas during the safaris are the grasslands which harbor many species of wild animals. Our main focus on this tour is the tiger but we will see the rare Hard Ground Swamp Deer as well.
Day 8 Morning evening game drive in the Kanha reserve. The tigers emerge from hunt at dawn and seek shelter amongst the dense canopy to rest for the day. This is the best time to catch them on jungle roads in the park. Expert trekking will result in thrilling sight of the big cats. We will also enjoy and elephant back ride if the tiger show takes place. This is a unique feature of Central Indian Parks an elephant ride could mean lot of thrills.
Day 9 We leave for Jabalpur City in Madhya Pradesh. Jabalpur has interesting history of Gonds, Marathas and the British. Nerbudda Club is where game of snooker was invented. Pay a visit and have Lunch at Hotel Krishna. Board Super Fast train at 3 P.M.
Day 10 Reach Delhi by 11 a.m. Go straight to a good restaurant for lunch, afterwards drive to International Airport to catch a flight back to your destination.
