India Tour Advice
India is a large and diverse country. The main mode of travels in India are by rail and road. In recent times air services have improved and the network has become large. The country experiences a sudden flow of travelers which can be very large. This creates congestion in travel modes. Hence reserve your travel in advance.
Many places experience severe winters and hot summers so be prepared and find the temperatures in advance. In monsoon the country is slashed by heavy rains making movement impossible. Rainy season is not the time to travel in India. Well at least in places where it rains heavily.
By and large the country is safe but basic precautions should be taken. Ladies traveling alone should avoid late hours. At some places late night movement is not advised. Hence inquire before hand.
Avoid roadside eateries, carry mineral water. Book good hotels and avoid cheap ones. Hot tea and branded cold drinks like Coca Cola, Pepsi, Thums Up, Fruiti etc are safe.
Stay away from strangers and take only registered guides for sightseeing. Engage travel services, guides known to the hotel.
English is quite popular everywhere, but then there are many regional languages like Gujerati, Punjabi, Marathi, Tamil, Telegu, Malyali, Bengali, etc. If you know few words you will be able to communicate. Know Hindi words it is spoken all over North and West India and understood everywhere.
