Gir Lion & Tigers Safaris

(Gir National Park is situated in the State of Gujarat in Junagadh District. It is the last home of the Asiatic Lion in India.)

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 You Arrive Mumbai around midnight. We will escort you to a hotel near the airport. The tour operator guide will assist you and be at your service. Have a nice sleep at night.
Day 2 Mumbai-Diu or Rajkot- Gir National Park is in the state of Gujarat. Hence we fly to Diu or Rajkot and then drive to Gir National Park near Junagadh. Stay for the night in Gir Birding Lodge. Gir National Park is a belt of dry deciduous forests, acacia scrub, semi evergreen flora, grassland, rivers and streams. The Kamleshwar Dam, is popular for avian species and mugger crocodiles. This is the last preserve of the Asiatic lions and the only one in the World. A large leopard population thrives in the lion reserve. Other mammals which inhabit the place are sloth bear, caracal, sambar, spotted deer, chousingha, blue bull antelope, wild boar, Hanuman langur, jackal, jungle cat, rusty-spotted cat, striped hyena and black naped hare.
Day 3 & 4 Gir National Park on all Meals. Enjoy the morning & evening trips in the park The park is the only home of the Asiatic Lion. About for hundred lions live in the forests besides many other animals. The preserve is a very good bird watching destination hence it is popular with birders. On both the safari we will search for a pride using alarm cries and pug marks as guide. Our night stay is at Gir Birding Lodge situated in the confines of the jungles.
Day 5 Gir National Park-Little Rann of Kutch on all meals. We take a road trip to Little Rann of Kutch which is about seven hrs. We take a game drive in the afternoon into the dry plains of Rann to see Asiatic Wild Ass. The sanctuary is the habitat of Asiatic wild ass, caracal, Blue bull, Indian Gazelle, wolf, and fox, jackal, jungle cats, hare and birds - houbara bustard, great Indian bustard, McQueens Bustard, sandgrouse, francolin, larks and pipits, partridges, bustard quails, wheatears, larks, imperial eagle, buzzards, short toed eagle, laggar falcon and peregrine falcon, endangered vultures, greater and lesser flamingo and great white pelican. As the day ends we will leave for the wildlife resort and stay there overnight.
Day 6 Little Rann of Kutch-Ahmedabad-Mumbai on all Meals: Morning visit the the Little Rann again for wildlife safari.We will continue looking for animals and we have missed and make the most of the expedition in Gujarat. After the drive and lunch we will leave for Ahmedabad for connecting flight to Mumbai. You will be met and transferred to a luxury hotel near the airport. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 7 Early morning we taxi down to Mumbai airport for the Nagpur flight. From Nagpur we take a road trip to Kanha National Park which is about five hours. The tiger reserve is situated in the State of Madhya Pradesh in Central India. The most popular tiger reserve in the World Kanha National Park spreads over 945 sq. km of dense Sal , grassy meadows, mixed forests and bamboo. This is the best place to spot the tiger or come across rare Barasingha that inhabit the park's grasslands. The buffer zone is about 1000 km and constitutes Kanha Tiger Reserve established in 1974, under the Project Tiger. Two major river systems, Halon and Banjar, flow across the park.

Kanha is home to magnificent diversity of both flora and fauna. Besides tigers other animals are leopard, sloth bear, wild dog, swamp deer, Gaur, sambar, spotted deer, wild boar, Nilai, barking deer, Hanuman Langur and so on.

Day 8 & 9 Kanha National Park Meals: breakfast, lunch & dinner. Morning & afternoon safari for tiger-tracking and animal safari. The undulating terrain makes the ride bumpy at times. But nevertheless the animal and bird sighting make the trip extremely enjoyable. Tigers roam free in the reserve and we will encounter them on the jeep safaris. Overnight stay in Krishna Jungle Resort.
Day 10 Morning drive in the park. Move to Jabalpur station (3½ hour) to board train to New Delhi. An overnight train.
Day 11 Reach Delhi in the morning (7 a.m.) transfer to international airport or to Hotel if you have booked extra Nights.
